After the Tadasana (Mountain pose), Katichakrasana (Standing Spinal Twist), Trikonasana (Triangle pose), Ashvasthasana , Bhujangasana (Cobra pose), Shashankasana (Hare pose), Ardha Matsyendrasana (Half Spinal Twist), Gomukhasana (Cow’s face pose), and Naukasana (Boat pose), this is the tenth and final asana in our selected progression. In a yoga session, this asana is usually done as the final asana and here, it also winds down our countdown to Yoga Day!
Many people claim that Shavasana is their favourite asana. The good news is that if done properly, it can do wonders for your health!
How it’s done
Lie flat on the back with the arms about 15 cm away from the body on either side, palms facing upward. Keep the feet slightly apart in a comfortable position and close your eyes. The head and spine should be in a straight line. Relax the whole body and stop all physical movements, becoming aware of the natural movement of breath and allowing it to become rhythmic and relaxed.
Stay in the asana for as long as comfortable.
